My toolbox

Yeah... this is my desktop's screenshot...A little collection of the tools I use for my work. Actually this is more a reference to the tools in case of need (for myself) but maybe you can find the links useful somehow. Any feedback really appreciated about these applications or even new tools or different ones.

Various applications for network & development

Getif network tool: When working with the SNMP protocol I found the need of using a GUI to access the various OIDs and compare the information with the scripts I was working on. I found this tool quite useful as it gives different views of the objects and most of all is free. [link]
MRTG: MRTG (Multi Router Traffic Grapher) was the first tool I used for graphic the system resources before dropping down my own Perl scripts. It really doesn't need introduction. [link]
RRD: Round Robin Database are at the base of MRTG working. The rrdtool is at the base of KNOCK application graphics and monitoring information storage. [link]
Cain & Abel: I find this tool amazing for the quick and dirty jobs. Even if from time to time there can be some fun in seeing how quickly user's passwords can be cracked over the network, Cain has really good tools for basic analysis. [link]
Gentoo Linux: This distribution is stunning. I have it on almost any my Linux boxes, even in production environment I am leaving RedHat (wherever I can). I have a successful installation of Gentoo Linux on a Dell PowerEdge 750 server with a single Pentium IV HT processor working really well. No crashes since its startup, maybe a little trouble at first installation. This is the best distribution I have ever tried, I love the idea of a Linux OS completely compiled over my platform and doing what I want (sigh - recalling memories of the first RedHat Linux distribution over 8CDs).
